In 1978, six(6) accounting firms through their representatives agreed to meet to organized themselves into what will eventually become the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice. These 6 accounting firms were: SyCip, Gorres, Velayo & Co., Joaquin Cunanan & Co., Luis C. Diaz & Co., Carlos J. Valdes & Co., Banaria, Banaria & Co., and Jesus Zulueta & Co. Talks about forming the association continued until the drafts of the articles of Incorporated was prepared and the fifteen (15) incorporators identified.
